In April Sea & Sun Technology took part in the fair Evermonaco. This event brings together leaders from sustainable energy. In 2017 the program of the Evermonaco Conference was focusing on energy from the oceans. That is why Sea & Sun Technology was interested in promoting the vast opportunities of current and tidal power plants. On our stand we had good talks and prepared many interesting new projects.
According to Prof Mayerle, Director of the Research and Technology Centre Westcoast of Kiel University, tidal and current power plants are getting close to competitive pricing and market readiness. On the congress he presented latest technologies and models for placing tidal and current power plants with maximum impact.
according to USA based Ann Dallman, from Ocean Energy Systems (OES) the numbers of current projects are rising strongly. She presented aggregated results from the ocean energy report which sums up current developments in ocean power.
As part of the conference program our CEO Heinz Schelwat also gave presentations about the possibilities of energy from algae and much further reaching opportunities with algae for the outer islands from France.
On our stand the team from Sea & Sun Technology was pleased to present technologies for exploring water and current but also the condition of cables and the seabed. These are just two possible areas of operation for our project B.O.S.S., the manta ray, one of the most advanced AUVs. Our mutual project with Evologic and the Fachhochschule Lübeck met high interest from investors and energy producers. That is why we also hosted very interested visitors on our stand. Even his highness Prince Alber II made a stop and was very interested in our technology. Our partner Henry Reese (photo right) from Energy Franco Allemande explained not only the project B.O.S.S. perfectly well but also prepared a mutual project for the Oceanografic Museum of Monaco.
Together with the foundation of Prince Alber II our team also assisted in finding promising startups. Our shareholder Kai Pohlmann participated ih the jury of METHA EUROPE 2017, a startup competition organised by the Ecoles des Mines.
It was a great pleasure working at EverMonaco. The congress was very well organized by EnR & Développement Durable magazine and the Grimaldi Forum was a good place for talks as we see in this picture, where Prof. Mayerle and Cyrus Baron could work outside in the sun to develop investment opportunities for water current plants.
In the EnR magazine you can also find an interview with Heinz Schelwat.
